We are looking for a well rounded research analyst intern to help with trend research and documenting the competitive landscape. The opportunity we’re in the middle of is one that comes with products and distribution to kick the company off with significant amounts of targeted traffic.

WHAT WE’RE CREATING
We are staffing a stealth-mode health-tech / ecommerce property that is a joint venture with a very large co-marketing and co-branding partner with millions of monthly eyeballs and millions of paying customers. This new ecommerce property will leverage partnerships with top global thought-leaders and influencers in the areas of: functional medicine, scientifically-validated natural medicine, root cause analysis, telemedicine, IoT device-based health trends (biometrics, fitness tracking, sleep tracking), at home diagnostics (DNA, bio-markers), personalized medicine, and ancient medical systems of the planet: traditional chinese, ayurveda, and amazonian medicine. We are working with some of the strongest brands (physical goods, digital goods and broader solutions), as well as promising cutting edge brands/solutions that are in the early stages of their product lifecycles. Our research and our belief is that we don’t compete directly with Amazon or vitacost because discerning customers aren’t going to these sites for efficient answers to their family’s critical health problems. They desire the expertise of a functional MD (+/- ND, OD, ayurveda, TCM), combined with the efficiency of tech-forward health apps/services with the confidence that data-driven (biomarkers, diagnostic tests, board-certified expert guidance) brings to a total health solution.
YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Projects – Provide support on sector strategic projects involving transactional and investment decisions: defining the problems, developing hypotheses, structuring analyses, collecting data, and communicating findings succinctly and thoughtfully. Outcomes may include recommendations on go-forward investments and strategies; and execution of partnerships, intellectual property, and site selection strategies.
Market Assessment – Research market conditions in local, regional, national and international segments to determine potential sales of a product or service. Perform analyses in the areas of product preferences, potentials, sales coverage, market size, penetration, marketing practices and trends. Less on the quantitative side, and more about big picture thinking and news
Customer and Competitor Landscape Assessment – Keep informed about developments in the medicine, natural wellness, health, supplement, DTC, and economic, scientific, political, industrial/international fields as they apply to the organization’s future marketing plans. Collect and maintain information on the requirements, organization, budget, and preferences of prospective customers and competitors. Gather data on competitors and analyzes their strategies, prices, sales, and method of operation. Organize information to assist in analyzing future products and make recommendations for the development of new products or services.The landscape is constantly shifting, you will be responsible for following the cutting edge trends and relaying the relevant information to the team
Investor Research – What companies and ideas are the big venture funds investing in? How can we relay this information in potential product offerings? These questions and more will be in your domain to help answer.

YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maximize Opportunities – We are biz-dev and corp-dev deal makers. You should know how to identify leverage and fully take advantage of CEO & board-level partnerships with both global enterprises and emerging startups.
- Collaborate w/Board & Founders + Build your Sr. Team – As CEO, you will be a cornerstone of our founding team. Because we operate a portfolio of multiple companies, you will need to build a senior and support team for this stand-alone business/P&L, which you will run. You will have the assistance and support of our entire team, our companies and our networks.
- Manage Revenue & Valuation Growth – The markets we are in (telemedicine, health-tech, ecommerce, natural wellness / functional-medicine renaissance, wearable data, unbundling of the family doctor) give us unbounded opportunities. Your responsibility will be to develop solid business fundamentals (predictable revenues, customer growth, KPIs) while making moves for exponential valuation jumps (brand leadership, strategic partnerships, momentum, unique differentiators).
- Future Capitalization – Work as a team with the board and co-founders to package and scale the business with a balanced approach to cashflow and incremental capitalization efforts. (We anticipate strong cashflow and want to leverage this into favorable capitalization terms so that we stay ahead of market competition.)
- Create & Execute Strategic Plans – Move quickly to improve & implement our current 6-month plan, while you lead the development of an 18-month plan (ASAP), and a 36-month plan (at the optimal time).
- Bridging Strategy into Operations – Work with your senior team to efficiently and effectively translate strategic (corporate) plans into tactical plans that their teams can execute predictably. A balance of cavalier momentum and systems and structures.
- Oversee Customer-centric Agile Execution – Take a rapid iterative approach and lean startup methodology to moving quickly through product:market fit and into scale. With our co-branding traffic partnership, this business is primed to scale rapidly, and we still have to tune our efforts to the customer needs at every step of the way to create a winning brand with stellar customer lifetime value metrics.
- Strategic Positioning & Brand Building – Understand the importance of strategic positioning and the value of a brand, and build one over time, while embracing the DTC nature of our business. Our digital delivery mechanisms (telemedicine, personalized health solutions, subscription models).
- Innovative DTC models – We live in a CAC:LTV world. Develop models and approaches that leverage the high-efficiency of DTC (direct-to-consumer) methodologies in today’s complex markets (i.e. data privacy and platforming risks on Google, Facebook, Amazon).
- Managing Risk – Identify and manage risk in our model, with a sensitivity for how risk changes as our company, product, and market lifecycles evolve.
- Having Fun Leading by Example – Be a strong leader who understands the value of building a company culture of full-spectrum wellbeing: mental, emotional, physical, social, environmental, spiritual, and financial. We are staffing a stealth-mode media property that creates and curates cutting edge content in partnership with top global thought-leaders and influencers in the areas of: functional medicine, scientifically-validated natural medicine, root cause analysis, telemedicine, IoT device-based health trends (biometrics, fitness tracking, sleep tracking), at home diagnostics (DNA, bio-markers), personalized medicine, and ancient medical systems of the planet: traditional chinese, ayurveda, and amazonian medicine.
POSITION
Head of Content & Content Marketing Lead
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking one or two humans to cover these two domains:
1. Head of Content – We are looking for a proven Head of Content with experience launching and scaling digital media properties across: editorial, video, podcasts, and social media.
The Head of Content Responsibilities:
- Strategic planning of all content, and the overall story arc of the content channel
- Contributing to the identity of the channel upfront and over time as we publish content
- Co-creating our brand vibe and sub brand vibes for shows, segments, channels and themes
- Developing content ideas, content formats and show/segment formats
- Overseeing all types of editorial content: video, written and podcast content as well as edutainment and edusales content
- Managing editorial and content calendars
- Co-creating content with influencers and thought leaders (i.e. functional MDs, and scientists, natural healers)
- Embrace fast underproduced content as much as you do planned HQ productions
- Be hands-on with pre-production, story production, production, post-production
- Have experience managing inhouse and third-party production and edit resources
- Have experience with unscripted TV content (broadcast or OTT), or comparable
- Be super fun, happy, positive, creative, collaborative
- Have a personal growth and personal development practice that helps you show up as your highest-vibration self
2. Head of Content Marketing – Proven expert at distributing short-form video content and blog/article content via the social web (YT, FB, IG, LI, Clubhouse, Google, syndication, PR, influencers) to build engaged audiences on social and on our destination site (app planned too).
The Content Marketing Lead will deliver results
Experience: 3-5 years minimum, with 5-7+ preferred
- Content marketing & audience building – target, attract, engage, capture/convert target audiences
- Planning – creating a content distribution plan and audience development plan that covers social networks and driving website traffic (app someday)
- Data-driven decisions – lead the company culture around tracking, reporting, analyzing, testing, optimizing. Manage ROI of campaigns and audiences.
- Optimization – rapid iteration and refinement of our content and marketing
- Growth-hacking mentality – a creative approach to leveraging assets and hitting results, especially as it relates to building true social followings
- Co-Create Content – work with our Content Creation team to make sure our content performs
- Social media marketing
- Social growth hacking
- Channel partner marketing – working with strategic partners to co-create and co-publish content
- Influencer marketing – biz dev, planning, implementation
- Paid media – campaigns to boost content and accelerate growth
- Messaging that converts – strategic positioning & top-level marketing copy (headlines, ads, hooks, sales points, offers, lead magnets)
- Tracking, Reporting and analysis – multi-channel attribution
- Be hands-on – our philosophy is to hire versatile players that can do strategic planning (10%), team management (10%+) and be very hands-on (up to 80%) with implementation. Ratios will shift over time as we grow the team.

- Format-based content – podcasts, hollywood or TV-like formats, shows, webisodes, and other edited content (i.e. Ted Talks, girlboss)
- Social and community – developing community, conversations, forums, UGC and peer-to-peer engagement (twitch, reddit, fan clubs, etc.)
- Content-as-sales-conversion – comparison sites, shopping guides, sales funnels, video sales presentations, and other “affiliate traffic generation” tactics
- Publishing models – building, engaging, retaining audiences for content-centric digital properties
- Digital goods – marketing guides, online programs, and subscription models such as workout plans, online wellness programs, yoga subscriptions, telemedicine sites/apps, etc.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
We’re a relatively flat organization that fosters naturally arising leadership. We also use circular management, where stakeholders show up together to support the project lead.
- You’ll report to: Co-founder
- You’ll manage: In-house and 3rd party production talent, agencies and contractors to start as your department grows over time.
- Seniority & title: You can be a manager, director, VP or C-level depending on your experience. You must be ready, willing and able to be hands-on with implementation, and be capable of collaborative strategic planning and leading production teams.
- Location: You will work remotely for the foreseeable future. Most of us are in Santa Monica, CA / West LA.
- Timezone: You should be willing and able to work in the Pacific Time Zone, with occasional off-hours work required for other timezones.
